CDTA VELO - Takhion Super Sport road racing bicycle (1986-Kharkov, Ukraine, USSR-#238)
Late-Soviet-era road racing bike, found nearby at Recycle-A-Bicycle.
Takhion was a special make of bicycle from Kharkov, Ukraine, in former-USSR.
Named for tachyon, (Physics) a hypothetical subatomic particle that always travels faster than speed of light.
Developed by Central Design & Technology Agency, Bike Building, or CDTA BB
from 1981 to 1992, nearly 400 custom bicycles were produced, over a dozen models for road, track and time trial competitions,
featuring original-patent aluminum, carbon and titanium components.
Takhion supplied cycling teams of Republics Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Kirghizia.
Several USSR National Championships, and at least one World Championship, have been won on Takhion.

Light metalic blue, 53cm (c-t) Columbus tube lugged frame,
chrome fork with semi-sloping crown and recessed brake mount.
Equipped with original CDTA aluminum components,
including cartridge-bearing headset, side-pull caliper brakes,
gum-hood brake levers, seatpost, front-rear derailleurs, downtube shifters,
handlebar and internal bar-clamp stem.
Missing original wheelset, crankset, bottom bracket (36 x 24 x 72 x 112),
and frame-mounted racing number.
Assembly completed with Campagnolo NR crankset and tubular wheels.
